Valentine’s 2021

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

Around this time each year, we would host an “A Night To Remember” dinner & dance event for our annual Valentine’s activity. We literally planned a year in advance with the last six months practicing and putting it all together. We were a very small ragtag group of volunteers with an even smaller shoestring budget that couldn’t match our big visions for what we looked to achieve. It cost us more than we made to do those events. But, watching couples come and escape for one night, eating, dancing, and enjoying the time together brought us great joy and made it all worthwhile.

Although we will not be hosting any future programs through our organization, Yvonne and I are hopeful, before we get too old, for the opportunity to be hosts for some other event with the same goal in mind. This Valentine’s Day will yet again be impacted by the covid virus lockdown. Sadly, many local events will not transpire. But that does not mean that it cannot be any less important or fun.

Here are some ideas one may consider:

Game night. Either just the two of you or a small couples group gathering for a no-holds game of some type. This could be Charades, Name That Tune or Artist/Band, or a board game to name a few.

Beach Bonfire or Campfire. This depends on where you live and what is open or available. A night on the beach, a boom box (yea, that’s old school so whatever you got), some snacks and more. use your imagination

.

Camping. Do you have access to an RV? Maybe a cabin. Check in at some hotel out of town just for different surroundings.

Whatever you do, or don’t do, what really matters is that you take a few moments to reflect on what you have, share what you want to achieve together, and be thankful for where you are.

And, for Yvonne and I, if you can select just one special Valentine’s song and … dance!

Until next time, we wish you LOVE, JOY & PEACE!
